Located in Board of Education District 5 and KCS Region 1, Farragut Intermediate School is proudly located in the heart of Farragut. Established in 1984 as part of the Knox County Schools district, the school was founded through the consolidation of the Knoxville and Knox County system.

Farragut Intermediate serves students in grades 3-5 and is one of the four public schools serving the Town of Farragut, alongside a primary, middle, and high school. As of the 2025-26 school year, the student body is over 1,111 students strong with 49 full time classroom teachers.

Farragut Intermediate is consistently ranked among the top elementary schools in Tennessee. In the 2025 state rankings, it placed 67th out of 1,009 public elementary schools—earning a spot in the top 7%. The Tennessee Department of Education also recognized FIS as a Reward School for its high performance.
